Actors Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, delved into their latest crime thriller Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas. The film, directed by Akshay Shere, marks a sharp turn for both the actors as they step into darker, more intense storytelling spaces.

EXCLUSIVE: Jitendra Kumar denies being typecast; Arshad Warsi calls his Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas role “a rare find for any actor”
Known for his nuanced performances in slice-of-life dramas and comedies such as Panchayat and Jaadugar, Jitendra Kumar takes on a drastically different role this time — inspired by real-life serial killer Cyanide Mohan. Reflecting on this creative shift, Jitendra shared that he has always been open to diverse characters, though not all could materialize.
“Thankfully mere sath kabhi nahi tha ki mujhe ek hi type ke roles mil rahe hain. Jo bhi filmmaker mere paas aaya, woh hamesha kuch different lekar aaya. Bahot variety wale roles mile hain,” Jitendra said, highlighting his willingness to explore varied shades as an actor.
Arshad Warsi, who plays Inspector Vishwas Bhagwat in the film, praised the scope of the project, noting how rare such opportunities are for an actor. “This particular role, for any actor to get, is superb. You very rarely get the chance to portray something like this. The filmmaker and producers get to see a whole new side of an actor they might not have imagined,” he said.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja, Kanishk Gangwal, and Vipin Agnihotri under Jio Studios, Baweja Studios, and Dog ’n’ Bone Pictures, Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas unfolds against the backdrop of a prostitution racket investigation, with both lead characters navigating a morally complex narrative.
