Actor Harshvardhan Rane is enjoying the success of his latest release, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, co-starring Sonam Bajwa and directed by Milap Zaveri. The romantic drama has performed well at the box office, collecting Rs. 50 crores so far. Following the positive response, Harshvardhan and Sonam have begun a nationwide post-release promotional tour.

Harshvardhan Rane says it’s time to end the nepotism debate as he celebrates the success of ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’
In a recent interview with Zoom, Harshvardhan spoke about his film’s box office clash with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, while also sharing his views on the long-running nepotism debate in Bollywood.
Harshvardhan Rane on Ending the Nepotism Debate
Speaking about the topic, Harshvardhan said, “My initial reaction was that the whole country should finally stop using this one word that we’ve been obsessed with for the last six or seven years — nepotism. Let’s end this word in 2025 because you guys have already ended it. Two films led by outsiders released together on Diwali, and both received equal love and box office success. What does that mean? It means the audience treats everyone equally.”
He further added, “So where is nepotism? It’s just an excuse. If you’re lazy or afraid to take risks, you use this word as a defence mechanism. If someone around you uses it, just smile, excuse yourself, and walk away. Everyone is tired of hearing it now. This word has been overused, and there’s no example left.”
About Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat
The film, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, revolves around a powerful politician who becomes entangled with a strong-willed superstar. Their passionate romance soon turns into a battle of obsession, ego, and heartbreak.
Directed by Milap Zaveri, the movie has grossed Rs. 50 crores at the box office and continues to draw audiences with its emotional intensity and chemistry between the lead actors.
About Thamma
On the other hand, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma — a supernatural romantic thriller-comedy — has been a major hit, earning Rs. 100 crores in India. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Maddock Films, Thamma is part of the studio’s horror-comedy universe. The film follows a journalist (played by Ayushmann) who falls in love with Betaal (played by Rashmika) as they join forces to take down Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character.
With both Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat and Thamma performing well, Harshvardhan Rane’s message about audiences supporting talent over lineage seems more relevant than ever.
