In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, actor Arshad Warsi opened up about his perspective on film workshops and why he prefers staying away from them. The Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas actor shared that he finds the exercise of rehearsing in controlled environments “pointless,” emphasizing that the real performance only emerges on set.

“I don’t like workshops. I feel it’s pointless,” Warsi said, adding, “When you are on the set, the whole atmosphere is completely different from when you are in a room. I can’t be real in a boardroom; I can only be real in that place where I am wearing the costume with everybody around.”
He further explained that unless a film requires extensive preparation—like a period drama or a heavily stylized project—workshops tend to feel artificial. “If I do what I do at the reading, I’ll end up doing something completely different on set and confuse everyone,” he said.
Instead, the actor suggested that filmmakers could opt for a full narration session to help the cast understand the story. “I find it very interesting when all the actors sit together and listen to the script. Rohit Shetty does that—he has a writer who narrates the entire film to the cast, so everyone knows what’s happening,” he noted.
Arshad’s recent OTT outing Bhagwat Chapter: One Raakshas premiered on ZEE5, where his performance has received praise. He was last seen on the big screen in Jolly LLB 3 alongside Akshay Kumar. The actor will next appear in King, headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, which is currently in production.
