John Lobb Celebrates 75th Anniversary of Its Lopez Loafer With Special Release

John Lobb is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its Lopez loafer with a special release timed to coincide with Saint Crispin’s day.

The day, which honors the patron saint of shoemakers whose legend stretches back to the 8th century, is one that John Lobb has celebrated since 1996. While the English shoe Maison releases a limited-edition shoe to mark the occasion, John Lobb also plays out the tradition of Saint Crispin in its boutiques, where the shoe is unveiled and paired with exclusive experiences for the brand’s most loyal clients.

This year, a special 75th anniversary Lopez loafer was created in close collaboration with the artisans of Northampton, U.K.

The company noted that for this project, the shoe’s pattern was entirely reimagined to “infuse more modernity” while “preserving the iconic lines of the Lopez.”

The Lopez 75 is offered in three colors – Black, Dark Oak, and Storm – and is limited to only 500 pairs. Each pair is accompanied by a bespoke-inspired articulated shoe tree and a Saint Crispin 2026 engraved plaque.

Notable details of the shoe include its apron being entirely hand-sewn with 75 precise stitches that close the upper. Even more subtly, the final stitch forms the Roman numerals for 75, replacing the usual finishing stitch.

Plus, the brand is using its Prestige sole, inspired by bespoke construction, which aims to offer “a more elegant and defined curve,” while the 5 mm raised heel enhances the sole.

John Lobb chief executive officer Philippe Gonzalez told FN that the Lopez is “more than a loafer.”

“It’s a symbol of our Maison, and we’re deeply attached to it,” Gonzalez said. “It reflects a way of life that’s confident, poised and very much in tune with its time. For us, the Lopez embodies everything John Lobb stands for today. It’s a true icon, and its spirit runs through everything we do. You could say it’s our signature: a constant, universal expression of our craft.”

To celebrate the release, John Lobb tapped French photographer Romain Laprade to create a campaign. drawing on a modernist aesthetic of warm tones and minimalist compositions for which Laprade is known for creating.

The Lopez 75, which retails for $3,050, is now available on Johnlobb.com and at John Lobb boutiques globally.
