In a recent interview with India Today, Warsi highlighted the industry’s inclination towards replicating successful formulas rather than exploring new narratives. He remarked, “Somewhere down the line, I feel we don’t take chances anymore. We just don’t. Especially in Hindi cinema, we try to play it as safe as possible. For example, now that superhero-style movies are working, every film seems to be following that pattern. Ever since RRR, it feels like every hero has become a superhero. Where are the real people?”

Warsi commended Saiyaara for deviating from the prevalent superhero genre and succeeding with a simple love story. He noted, “Saiyaara worked beautifully, despite releasing at a time when superhero-ish films were dominating. It was just a regular love story, but it worked because they took a chance. No one expected that. Two new actors, a simple love story and yet, it connected.”

He further emphasized that filmmakers should be willing to take risks, stating, “If you have the money and the facilities, take a bit of a risk and try something different.”

Addressing the ongoing debate about Bollywood losing its audience to South Indian cinema, Warsi opined that the quality of a film transcends its genre. He cited Kantara: Chapter 1 and Saiyaara as examples, asserting, “A movie works when it’s good. Genre doesn’t matter.”

Saiyaara starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has garnered attention for its fresh approach and has been well-received by audiences and critics alike.
