Bollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra recently spoke candidly about her love for Diwali in an exclusive conversation with British Vogue, revealing how the festival holds a special place in her heart even while living in London.
Priyanka Chopra celebrates Diwali in London: “I have introduced every daisy tradition”
Priyanka Chopra, “We are in gorgeous London celebrating my favourite festival of Diwali. My favourite thing about Diwali is community, coming together of friends and family, food, laughter, and just the joy of hope, because this festival is the victory of good over evil. And in a world where everything is a little strange and tumultuous, I feel like it gives me a lot of solace.” Her words reflect the deep emotional connection she has with the festival, highlighting its importance as a time of bonding and reflection.
When asked which Bollywood film she would recommend to someone unfamiliar with Indian cinema, Priyanka did not hesitate. “I only know this answer because my husband recommends this movie of mine to everyone who hasn’t seen maybe some Bollywood movies. It’s Dil Dhadakne Do and most of my friends who haven’t been exposed to Bollywood really love it, so that’s a good one I think,” she said, showing her pride in sharing her work with a global audience.
Priyanka also spoke about how she has brought her Diwali traditions to her life in London. “I have introduced every daisy tradition. I have a really beautiful Mandir in my house and we do Puja’s on Diwali. A lot of my non-daisy friends join me for those Puja’s. Also clothes, I do a lot of Indian clothing as gifts for a lot of my friends. Ajar is something that I really introduced to a lot of my friends,” she explained.
Through her words, Priyanka not only celebrates the festival’s essence but also showcases how Indian culture and traditions can be shared and enjoyed across borders, keeping the spirit of Diwali alive worldwide.
