Bollywood actor Lakshya, known for his roles in Kill and The Ba***ds of Bollywood, recently shared a pivotal moment from his early career that shaped his journey into films. In a candid conversation on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Lakshya revealed that after his television show Porus concluded, he was offered a television role with a daily payment of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. Despite the tempting offer, he chose to decline it, driven by his ambition to become a movie star.

Lakshya reveals he choose films over lucrative TV offer: “The only thing I knew was hard work”
This determination led him to sign a three-film deal with Karan Johar’s production house. However, two of those projects Dostana 2 and Bedhadak were shelved. Instead of succumbing to disappointment, Lakshya focused on honing his craft, engaging in voice training, workouts, film-watching, and scene readings. He shared, “I was blank. I was numb to it. I just let it happen. Luckily, I never had self-doubt. I genuinely felt nothing was set up for me. I had no plans of becoming an actor; I just happened to become one. The only thing I knew was hard work. So why should I stop doing that? That’s what’s made me. Who do I blame? God? Or Karan Johar? I can’t blame anyone, na. The film got shelved, and that’s it. For some reason, I had the self-belief that it was happening for a reason. Tables would turn one day. There wasn’t a single day throughout COVID when I didn’t work hard.”
Reflecting on that decision, Lakshya recalled, “My father said, ‘That’s a lot of money. I’ve never seen that kind of money in my whole life. Just grab it.’ But there was a stubbornness within me. Why couldn’t I become a movie star? What do I lack? This one’s doing it, that one’s doing it – so why couldn’t I?”
Lakshya’s perseverance paid off when he landed the lead role in Kill, an action-packed film produced by Dharma Productions. Following this success, he starred in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, marking Aryan Khan’s directorial debut. The series has been well-received, further solidifying Lakshya’s position in the industry.
Lakshya’s journey underscores the importance of following one’s passion and staying committed to long-term goals, even when faced with immediate financial temptations.
