Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 recently became the centre of a social media storm when a 10-year-old contestant, Ishit Bhatt from Gujarat, unintentionally rubbed viewers the wrong way with his curt tone and interruptions while speaking to host Amitabh Bachchan. The fifth grader’s seemingly overconfident responses quickly went viral, leading to widespread trolling and online debates about children’s behaviour on national television.

KBC 17: 10-year-old contestant Ishit Bhatt issues heartfelt apology after viral backlash; says, “It wasn’t my intention to be rude”
However, a week after the controversy erupted, Ishit has now come forward with a heartfelt public apology. A video shared on an Instagram account named @ishit_bhatt_official showed the young contestant requesting a photograph with Amitabh Bachchan, who graciously agreed. Alongside the clip, Ishit shared a written statement expressing deep regret for his actions and clarifying that his behaviour had not been intentional.
In his note, the young boy allegedly wrote, “Hello everyone, I want to sincerely apologize for my behaviour on Kaun Banega Crorepati. I know many people felt hurt, disappointed, or disrespected by the way I spoke, and I truly regret it. At that moment, I got nervous and my attitude came out completely wrong. It wasn’t my intention to be rude — I respect Amitabh Bachchan sir and the entire KBC team deeply. I’ve learned a big lesson about how words and actions reflect who we are, especially on such a big platform. I promise to be more humble, respectful, and thoughtful in the future. Thank you to everyone who still supported me and gave me a chance to learn from this mistake.”
The apology has sparked a fresh wave of reactions online. Many social media users have praised Ishit for taking accountability at such a young age, calling his message “mature” and “graceful.” However, a section of the internet continues to criticize the young contestant, arguing that his apology came only after facing backlash.
In the past, several celebrities and public figures, had come in support of the boy before he issued an apology, wherein they urged netizens to show empathy, reminding them that he is just a child learning from his experiences.
As of now, followed by this statement, the internet has shown divided opinions and yet, Ishit’s statement has managed to soften many hearts, turning a negative viral moment into a powerful lesson in humility and growth.
