The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has begun the NEET PG 2025 counselling process after months of delay, opening registrations for the first round of seat allotment for postgraduate medical programmes including MD, MS, and DNB courses.
Eligible candidates under the 50 percent All India Quota (AIQ) can apply on the official website, mcc.nic.in, and participate in the first round of allotments.
Candidates can fill and lock their college preferences online, and the results of the first round of seat allotment will be announced about two days after the choice-locking window closes.
Those satisfied with their allotted seats must report to the assigned institution with the required documents for verification and admission.
COUNSELLING AND ADMISSION DETAILS
The first round of registration is expected to remain open for a month, followed by shorter registration windows in subsequent rounds.
The process includes several stages of registration, document verification, choice-filling, seat allotment, reporting to allotted institutes, and upgradation if applicable.
The NEET PG 2025 examination, held on August 3, saw participation from approximately 2.4 lakh candidates across India after a Supreme Court intervention that ended a controversy over the proposed two-shift exam format.

DATA LEAK AND CHEATING CONTROVERSY
This year’s NEET PG process faced multiple disruptions, including delays, rescheduling, and legal challenges. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) invalidated results of 22 candidates for using unfair means, disqualifying 13 for malpractice.
Earlier, personal data of about 1.38 lakh NEET PG aspirants was allegedly leaked and sold online, causing widespread anger among candidates and the medical fraternity.
