Sabrina Carpenter has officially endorsed the socks-and-heels trend for fall 2025. The singer, who is currently in New York City to host “Saturday Night Live” next weekend, stepped out in Manhattan on Tuesday, wearing a head-to-toe butter yellow look that could make Carrie Bradshaw proud.

The star of Carpenter’s outfit was her Manolo Blahnik Sedaraby Pumps. Made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker’s character in “Sex and the City,” the shoes feature an ornate crystal buckle detail along the top strap, a gold base color and a delicate pattern throughout.

Carpenter paired the shoes with statement socks, giving them a trendy update. First popularized in the 1960s by Audrey Hepburn and Twiggy, the socks-and-heels trend began with black or white socks paired with classic pumps and other conservative silhouettes. It was only in the 1980s that wearing heels with colorful socks became popular. In the 1990s, Versace notably combined socks and heels in bold, often maximalist ways, reflecting the brand’s signature ornate designs and emphasis on luxury.
Carpenter’s slouchy socks matched her chunky, off-the-shoulder cable-knit sweater dress, as well as her glossy yellow Chanel handbag.

The singer is known for often referencing retro trends in her looks, both on and off stage. To do so, she collaborates with her stylist, Jared Ellner, who also works with Emma Charmberlian, Lili Reinhart and Molly Gordon, among others.
Sabrina Carpenter is scheduled to host and perform as the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” on Saturday. She is currently promoting her album, “Man’s Best Friend.”
