Are you ready to return to the Land of Ooo? Season 2 of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake promises to bring fans back to that beloved post-apocalyptic Earth, where Finn (Jeremy Shada), Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch), Marceline the Vampire Queen (Olivia Olson), and more await new adventures with human Fionna Campbell (Madeleine Martin) and her trusty feline sidekick Cake the Cat (Roz Ryan).

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake is a spinoff of the beloved animated series Adventure Time, created by Pendleton Ward and developed for HBO Max by Adam Muto. Following the events of the first season, which restored magic to Fionna’s world, she’s now summoned by the enigmatic Huntress Wizard for a brand-new adventure.

Intrigued? Here is everything we know about Season 2 of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, including when it premieres, who is in the cast, and what you might expect.

When does Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Season 2 premiere?

The ten-episode season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake will debut on Thursday, October 23, on HBO Max, followed by one new episode weekly through December 25.

    Who are Fionna and Cake?

What began as in-universe fan fiction from the deranged mind of the Ice King (the legendary Tom Kenny) — before he morphed back to his human form of Simon Petrikov — Fionna Campbell and Cake the Cat were the gender-swapped versions of Adventure Time‘s original heroes Finn the Human (Jeremy Shada) and Jake the Dog (John DiMaggio). They sporadically appeared in episodes, teasing fans who hoped the duo and their gender-flipped versions of Finn’s friend pool would one day become real and join Finn and the gang for adventures.

The final appearance of Fionna and Cake in Adventure Time was in Season 8’s “Five Short Tables,” a series of short vignettes that take place in the fanfiction universe featuring Prince Gumball (Neil Patrick Harris, Keith Ferguson, and Andrew Rannells), Marshall Lee (Donald Glover), and Lumpy Space Prince (Pendleton Ward).

What was Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Season 1 about?

Fionna and Cake are just a girl and a cat living unremarkable lives in the city when strange events begin a ripple effect in their universe. Thanks to a bereaved Simon, Cake and Fionna are accidentally sent to Ooo and are hunted by the Scarab, who is set on destroying their universe.

They travel across the multiverse, visiting alternate versions of the Land of Ooo. In doing so, Simon makes peace with his grief of losing his true love, Betty (Lena Dunham and Felicia Day), while Fionna attempts to restore magic to her humdrum existence. In the end, she realizes there is magic within her and within the relationships she shares with her friends, opening up a new world of possibilities.

Oh, it was also revealed that Prismo actually created Fionna’s universe and hid it in Ice King’s noggin.

What is Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Season 2 about?

HBO Max offers this official logline for Season 2: “After their journey through the multiverse, Fionna and Cake tackle new adventures while Huntress Wizard embarks on a desperate quest with fatal consequences.”

Who stars in Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Season 2?

Returning cast includes Madeleine Martin as Fionna and Roz Ryan as Cake. Ashly Burch will play the Huntress Wizard, who was a character from Adventure Time who formed a romantic connection with Finn the Human.

Huntress Wizard was originally voiced by Maria Bamford, who is also set for Season 2 in an undisclosed role.

Recurring guest cast includes Anna Akana, Dee Bradley Baker, Matthew Broderick, Kris Collins, Frank Collison, Andy Daly, Harvey Guillén, Manny Jacinto, Tom Kenny, Marc Maron, Jinkx Monsoon, Kumail Nanjiani, Olivia Olson, Vico Ortiz, Chelsea Peretti, Jeremy Shada, Hynden Walch, and Pendleton Ward, among others.

    Is there a trailer?

Yep. And it’s ‘nanas! It offers glimpses of new characters, including a possible romance with DJ Flame, teaming up with buffed-up adult Finn and Farmworld Finn, Fionna’s city friends in peril, and the return of BP and Marceline, as well as what looks like a visit to the Candy Kingdom.
