Marvel is adding a splash of showbiz sparkle to its superhero slate. The studio has dropped the trailer for ‘Wonder Man’, a fresh new series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a struggling actor who stumbles into heroism. Directed by Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton, who also co-created the show and helmed its first episode, ‘Wonder Man’ mixes superhero spectacle with sharp Hollywood satire, promising a bold new flavour for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The trailer opens with Simon Williams, an earnest but overlooked actor, learning that eccentric filmmaker Von Kovak (Zlatko Buri) plans to remake a classic film titled ‘Wonder Man’, a story that once inspired Simon as a child. Determined to land the lead role, Simon’s pursuit of fame sets off a chaotic yet heartfelt journey through the unpredictable world of Hollywood.

Along the way, Simon crosses paths with Trevor Slattery, the hilariously tragic failed actor played by Ben Kingsley. Fans will remember Slattery’s antics as the faux Mandarin in ‘Iron Man 3’ and his return in ‘Shang-Chi’ and the ‘Legend of the Ten Rings’. His presence here adds a layer of wit, nostalgia, and bittersweet comedy to the mix.

    Watch the trailer here:

Blending self-aware humour with superhero storytelling, ‘Wonder Man’ delves into themes of fame, identity, and redemption. As Simon chases his dreams under the blinding lights of Hollywood, his transformation into a reluctant hero unfolds, both as a performer and as a person.

Originally created in 1964 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Don Heck, the comic version of ‘Wonder Man’ depicted Simon Williams as the heir to an industrial empire who later gained superhuman abilities. The series reimagines that foundation, turning Simon’s journey into a meta-commentary on fame and heroism in modern Hollywood.

‘Wonder Man’ will premiere on January 27, 2026 on Disney+.
