Raghav Juyal, who recently received widespread acclaim for his performance in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, is riding high on appreciation for his versatility and commitment. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the dancer-turned-actor reflected on his journey, the similarities he sees with Shah Rukh Khan’s rise, and how he picks the right projects for himself.
EXCLUSIVE: Raghav Juyal says he relates to Shah Rukh Khan; says, “I want to be the biggest superstar of this country”
Opening up about his ambitions, Raghav didn’t hold back his determination. “I want to become the biggest superstar of this country. Main rukne wala nahi hoon. Ab Dehradun se train pakad ke aa hi gaya hoon toh! Main dance mein tha, hosting mein tha. Ab acting mein bhi bahut mehnat karoonga, jaan lagani hai – doob jaaunga iss tarah (I’m not someone who stops. I’ve taken the train from Dehradun and arrived! I was into dance, then hosting. Now I’ll work hard in acting too, I’ll give it everything — I’ll drown in it this way). I will do it,” he said with conviction while talking to Bollywood Hungama.
Reflecting on his path from being a background dancer to now a leading performer, Raghav shared how he connects with Shah Rukh Khan’s journey. “My journey has really helped me. People have seen me as a dancer, background dancer. Bahut kam mauka milta hai logon ki journey dekh ke unko star bananeka. Woh ek cheez main Shah Rukh sir ke saath relate kar paata hoon. Itne bade star hone ke bawajood iss insaan mein koi insecurities nahin hai (Very few people get the chance to rise to stardom after such a journey. That’s one thing I relate to with Shah Rukh Sir. Despite being such a big star, he has no insecurities). Even while working on this series, he gave me another project of his,” he shared.
Raghav expressed deep respect for Shah Rukh’s eye for talent and encouragement of hard work. “He sees ki iss bande ne kaam kiya hai, mehnat ki hai (He sees that this person has worked hard, put in the effort). He knows his craft,” he added.
When it comes to choosing scripts, Raghav explained his process. “I think I listen. I listen to myself and script consultant. Her name is Rani. She’s very experienced, okay. She was in NDTV and lot of other places. Nice script consultant. So she’s a film buff and she has seen films across the world and always stays in touch with what is happening in the South, North, Malayalam Cinema. She’s from Kerala. Nice, so I take advice from her and obviously I listen to my own heart”, he concluded.
From dancing on television to commanding the screen as a compelling actor, Raghav Juyal’s rise continues to inspire — and with his drive, humility, and vision, his dream of becoming “the biggest superstar” might just be within reach.
