As per PEOPLE, discussing her decision to adopt at the very age of 50, Diane said to Ladies Home Journal that motherhood was not an urge for her that she couldn’t resist, but it was rather more like a thought, which she had been thinking for a long time, and finally plunged in. She further added that she never thought she would ever be prepared to be a mother. Diane could be quoted as saying:
“Motherhood was not an urge I couldn’t resist. It was more like a thought I’d been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in. I didn’t think that I was ever going to be prepared to be a mother.”
Dexter is 29 years old, while Duke is only 25. Despite being the kids of a globally known actress, Duke and Dexter had no interest in what their mom did, as the actress herself shared. She once told people that she believes it is healthy for her kids to be disconnected from the glamour world and to stay away from the limelight. Duke and Dexter mostly stayed away from the public eye but often appeared with their mother at red carpet events. Diane revealed that they live a very normal life. Diane could be quoted as saying:
“They have no interest in what I do, which I think is very healthy. We live a relatively normal — well, sort of normal — life.”
