According to US Weekly, the Annie Hall star had been facing some health challenges in the last few months of her life. A close friend of the actress shared that Keaton’s health took a turn for the worse ‘very suddenly,’ leading her to withdraw from public life. She was earlier known to go on daily walks around her Brentwood neighborhood with her beloved dog, Reggie. However, fans and nearby people began to notice her absence earlier this year. Although she had been open about many aspects of her life, she chose to keep the details about her health and illness under wraps. According to reports, only her closest family members and friends were aware of it.
Earlier this year, in March 2025, the legendary actress made headlines after listing her 1920s-style Sullivan Canyon home on the market, reducing the price by USD 1.4 million in hopes of selling it quickly. The decision left fans surprised as Diane had spent several years restoring the home and even documented the process in her 2017 design guide, The House That Pinterest Built. Speaking about her love for creativity to Architectural Digest in that year, Diane said:
