On October 10, the last day of Celebrate Cinema 2025 festival, Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group, talked about ‘When Art Becomes Soft Power Of A Nation’ in the presence of Rajkumar Hirani, Kartik Aaryan, Mahaveer Jain, Dr Priti Adani and Subhash Ghai. Bollywood Hungama attended the session, and in this article, we focus on Adani predicting what the future holds for filmmaking thanks to AI.

Gautam Adani predicts how AI will change filmmaking FOREVER: “Imagine waking up with a story and releasing the film the same night…scripts will rewrite themselves, adapting to audience reactions…hero’s face will be modelled on the viewers…”

Gautam Adani predicts how AI will change filmmaking FOREVER: “Imagine waking up with a story and releasing the film the same night…scripts will rewrite themselves, adapting to audience reactions…hero’s face will be modelled on the viewers…”

He began by saying that genome sequencing and rapid advance in solar energy technology led to both becoming affordable. He then said, “We are on the brink of the next great collapse in cost, in the studios of storytelling. The next great unlocking of our human potential will not come from what we discover. It will come from what we dare to create. And it will happen right here in the world of cinema, where stories will no longer be bound by budgets but by the limits of our human creativity. Over the next decade, I expect a massive shift in the cost of cinematic creations, collapsing by 70-80%. What took years and billions of dollars will be achieved in days and just thousands of dollars. The wall between creative imaginations and the final executions will not just narrow. It will disappear. As that happens, a new creative age will rise, where every creator will have access to tools, once locked behind the walls of giant companies. Every storyteller will become his own studio!”

Gautam Adani then stated, “Let me now paint a picture of what I believe the coming decade would look like for the world of cinema, not as a fantasy but as an inevitable reality. First, we would move to a world of instant global releases. Imagine waking up in the morning with a story idea and by night, releasing a full-length feature film. It would be instantly translated into every language, customized for each viewer’s cultures and screened simultaneously to every continent. In a single day, your imagination can travel further than any studio can dream possible.”

He then said, “Second, AI-powered music will be in vogue. Singers and music directors will increasingly become redundant as you compose your film’s music in minutes, across cultures and languages. No longer would you need to wait for orchestra or recording studios.”

Gautam Adani further stated, “Third, there would be real-time storytelling. Your scripts would be permanently dynamic. They will rewrite themselves, adapting to audience reactions, global viewership data and your evolving ideas. The film will become a living entity, transforming continuously with every heartbeat of its audience.”

He was not done. He exulted, “Fourth, hyper-personalized experiences will become the norm. Imagine a historical epic where the hero’s face and voice are modelled on the viewer. Each person sees a version of the story that mirrors their own identity, making the film deeply personal and totally immersive. Fifth, there would be the emergence of creators and AI-collaboration studios. Your team would expand beyond humans. You will co-create with AI directors, editors, and designers, thus freeing you to focus on reason and meaning while the algorithm handles the details of production.”

Gautam Adani continued, “Sixth, actors would become immortal. Given the rapid advances in AI generated images and voice, digital replicas of actors are set to become the industry’s norm. This shift will not only redefine ownership structures but also create a new market for evergreen actors, spanning multiple generations.”

He added, “Finally, the film will be a gateway to commerce. Soon, every item you see in the film, be it a jacket you like or a vacation trip you want to take, will be purchasable with a click. This revenue model will transform movies into an ecosystem of commerce.”

Gautam Adani then remarked, “My young student friends, this is an extraordinary world you are stepping into, where you’ll be the creators of tomorrow. Armed with your imagination and amplified with AI, you will have unprecedented power to shape minds, moments and meaning. But with this power will come a significant responsibility because when intelligence can mimic emotions and algorithms can shape meaning, who will guard the truth? Who will ensure Bharat’s message is carried to the world? That duty and that calling must be yours. I stand before you as a fellow citizen with immense faith that your generation will make it happen. You are the first generation to be entrusted with both the greatness of heritage and the codes of the future. They have now converged. This is the real power and with this power, will come a duty to tell not just any story but the actual story of Bharat’s greatness.”

Later, Rajkumar Hirani, Kartik Aaryan, Mahaveer Jain, Dr Priti Adani and Subhash Ghai came on stage and hailed Gautam Adani’s speech. Kartik told him, “Sir, mujhe actually AI se bahut darr lagta hai. Toh aapne jab woh AI ki cheezein boli, uske baad mujhe laga ki students ko aap bolne waale ho ki ‘Beta, ho gaya! Ab toh jo hai, woh AI hai’ (laughs).”

On a serious note, he said, “But then, the way you actually inspired us through your speech was commendable. I myself didn’t expect I would get to hear a speech of this kind. I have to say that this is one of the best speeches I have ever heard.”

Rajkumar Hirani remarked, “It was quite an insight to hear about AI. Kartik mere saamne hil raha tha. He feared, ‘Ab digital Kartik hoga. Fir mera kya hoga?’! But I feel any technology will only aid us to open up our imagination and make better cinema. So, I don’t think we need to fear anything. It’s just a step ahead for us.”
