    70th Filmfare Awards 2025: Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor And ‘Laapataa Ladies’ Lead Nominations

    The Filmfare Awards are annual awards presented by The Times Group, honouring outstanding artistic and technical talent in India’s film industry. Originating in 1954 to recognise excellence in Hindi cinema, the award show has since expanded to include other languages and content, including South Indian, Punjabi, and Marathi films, as well as web series. The 70th edition of the Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2025 is set to take place on October 11, 2025, at EKA Arena, Ahmedabad. Here’s the full list of award nominees.

    The Best Film category includes some of the biggest Bollywood commercial blockbusters. Movies of varied genres, including Article 370, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kill, Laapataa Ladies, and Stree 2, bagged the nomination for this category. Besides the Best Film, the Best Actor in a Leading Role is the other most popular category. Every year, the fans eagerly await the news of which actor and actress secured the Filmfare awards for lead roles.

    In 2025, the male category includes Hrithik Roshan (Fighter), Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion), Abhishek Bachchan (I Want to Talk), Ajay Devgn (Maidaan), Akshay Kumar (Sarfira), and Rajkummar Rao (Stree 2). The female category features Alia Bhatt (Jigra), Kareena Kapoor Khan (Crew), Kriti Sanon (Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya), Shraddha Kapoor (Stree 2), Tabu (Crew), and Yami Gautam (Article 370).

    Next up, we have Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male and Female). The Bollywood actors eyeing this title are Ravi Kishan (Laapataa Ladies), Paresh Rawal (Sarfira), Pankaj Tripathi (Stree 2), R Madhavan (Shaitaan) and Raghav Juyal (Kill). The actresses who aspire to lift the trophy of this category are Chhaya Kadam (Laapataa Ladies), Janki Bodiwala (Shaitaan), Ahilya Bamroo (I Want to Talk), Madhuri Dixit (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3), and Priyamani (Article 370).

    Following the actors, the award show also honours the main individual helming the impressive projects we see on the big screen and on OTT platforms– the Best Director. Acclaimed filmmakers Amar Kaushik (Stree 2), Nikhil Nagesh Bhat (Kill), Aditya Suhas Jambhale (Article 370), Anees Bazmee (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3) and, Kiran Rao (Laapataa Ladies) were picked by the Filmfare panel to lead the nominations.


    Besides commercial hits, Filmfare also bestows awards on Best Films based on the critics’ choice. The movies which are in the race for this award are I Want to Talk (Shoojit Sircar), Laapataa Ladies (Kiran Rao), Maidaan (Amit Ravindernath Sharma), Merry Christmas (Sriram Raghavan), and The Buckingham Murders (Hansal Mehta). Just like the movies, the critics also award the Best Actors (Male and Female).

    In the male category, we have Pratik Gandhi (Madgaon Express), Rajkummar Rao (Srikanth), Abhishek Bachchan (I Want to Talk), Randeep Hooda (Swatantrya Veer Savarkar), and Sparsh Shrivastava (Laapataa Ladies). The female category features Alia Bhatt (Jigra), Kareena Kapoor Khan (The Buckingham Murders), Nitanshi Goel (Laapataa Ladies), Pratibha Ranta (Laapataa Ladies), and Vidya Balan (Do Aur Do Pyaar). Laapataa Ladies clearly leads the nomination in this category.


    Best Debut Director includes Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah (Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya), Kunal Kemmu (Madgaon Express), Varun Grover (All India Rank), Aditya Suhas Jambhale (Article 370), Randeep Hooda (Swatantrya Veer Savarkar), and Shirsha Guha Thakurta (Do Aur Do Pyaar). Best Debut Male category features Kshitij Chauhan (Vedaa), Lakshya (Kill), Sparsh Shrivastava (Laapataa Ladies), Abhinav Singh (Love Sex Aur Dhoka 2), Guru Randhawa (Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay), and Jibraan Khan (Ishq Vishk Rebound).

    The Best Debut Female category includes Dhvani Bhanushali (Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam), Nitanshi Goel (Laapataa Ladies), Ahilya Bamroo (I Want to Talk), Anjini Dhawan (Binny and Family), Pashmina Roshan (Ishq Vishk Rebound), and Pratibha Ranta (Laapataa Ladies). The Best Music Album award will be won from among Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Tanishk Bagchi, Sachin–Jigar, Mitraz), Maidaan (A R Rahman), Stree 2 (Sachin–Jigar), Bad Newz (Prem & Hardeep, Rochak Kohli, Vishal Mishra, Lijo George–DJ Chetas, Karan Aujla and Abhijeet Srivastava), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (Pritam, Tanishk Bagchi, Amaal Malik, Sachet–Parampara, Aditya Rikhari, Lijo George–DJ Chetas), and Laapataa Ladies (Ram Sampath).

    Best Playback Singer (Male) includes Karan Aujla (Tauba Tauba – Bad Newz), Pawan Singh (Aayi Nai – Stree 2), Arijit Singh (Sajni – Laapataa Ladies), Javed Ali (Mirza – Maidaan), and Sonu Nigam (Mere Dholna – Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3). The female category features Rekha Bhardwaj (Nikat, Kill), Shilpa Rao (Ishq Jaisa Kuch, Fighter), Anumita Nadesan (Tenu Sang Rakhna, Jigra), Madhubanti Bagchi (Aaj Ki Raat, Stree 2), and Shreya Ghoshal (Dheeme Dheeme, Laapataa Ladies). The other categories include Best Lyrics, Best Story, Best Screenplay, Best Dialogue, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Background Score, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Costume, Best Sound Design, Best Editing, Best Action, Best VFX and Best Choreography.
