Who is Greta Gerwig?
Greta Gerwig was born on August 4, 1983, in Sacramento, California, and raised in the River Park neighbourhood. Her mom, Christine, is an OB-GYN nurse, and her dad, Gordon Gerwig, worked at a credit union handling small business loans. She has an older brother who is a landscape architect, and also a sister who works as a manager at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She completed her schooling at St. Francis High School, an all-girls Catholic school in Sacramento.
She holds a degree in English and Philosophy and graduated from Barnard College in New York. After completing her degree, she wanted to pursue a career in playwrighting, but when she was not accepted into any playwriting MFA programs, she chose acting instead. She appeared in a small role in LOL, directed by Joe Swanberg and later began a creative partnership with Joe.

For the uninitiated, in March 2019, Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach welcomed their first child, a son named Harold. Greta revealed that she went into labour just a day after finishing the rough cut of Little Women. Years later, in December 2022, Greta was over the moon as she announced on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she was expecting her second child. In July 2023, the couple welcomed their second baby, a son, named Schmoo. In an interview with Elle UK, she later said that she welcomed her second child four months prior.
