Uttaran actress, Rashami Desai’s ex-husband, Nandish Sandhu, got engaged to Kavita Banerjee, on September 5, 2025. He shared mushy snaps with his partner where both were seen flaunting their engagement rings. However, do you know the actor was best known for his love story with ex-wife, Rashami Desai, whom he met on the sets of their show, Uttaran? The show made them decide to get married, but then what led to their separation in three years of marriage?
Nandish and Rashami started staying together, had a picture-perfect life, but things soon started changing differently. There was a point where they felt that things did not work out between the two. For the unversed, Rashami and Nandish married in 2012, and their divorce was finalised in 2016, but they reportedly separated in 2015. Their relationship started deteriorating, and Nandish and Rashami had stated their respective reasons behind the same.
Nandish Sandhu and Rashami Desai’s thought processes were not in sync
Nandish once sat down for an interview with Siddharth Kanan and shared about his meeting with Rashami on the sets of Uttaran. He revealed that it was an instant hit off and both fell in love. There was a time when he felt on top of the world, was making money and loved being with the one. However, things went wrong as the actor confessed to being immature back then and used to create a mountain out of a molehill. He had shared:
“I think it was a wise decision on both our parts that we mutually decided to go our separate ways. Things were not working out in terms of our thought processes. Our thoughts, our vision, our temperament was not the same, so I think we just hurried into it. We were young then, not very wise.”
Nandish Sandhu felt his relationship foundation with Rashami Desai was not strong
Nandish had proposed to Rashami after their romantic courtship, but he understood that their relationship was not strong at all. He had shared how compatibility issues came into the picture post-marriage, as they realised they were not compatible with one another. Then the ex-partners were not mature enough to agree to disagree. The actor also remembered the time when fingers were pointed at him during his separation and addressed claims of being physically abusive and being a Casanova. He shared:
“When the separation happened, I felt everybody was pointing fingers at me. Everyone was looking at me like a culprit. There were things being said in the media about me, that I was physically abusive, I was a Casanova. I started feeling cornered. And it took a toll on my professional decisions too.”

Rashami and Nandish reportedly now have a cordial relationship, and the actress, once in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, spoke about how she had to deal with everyone’s judgment. She shared how she had to undergo the process of pretending to be someone she actually was not. The actress revealed how she never wanted to clear her defence and there was a time when she did not want to be friends with him after the divorce. Rashami revealed that she always maintains dignity and never foul mouthing. In her words:
“Honestly, when I was in that process, the entire process was stressful. I couldn’t deal with it. Hence, I wasn’t being myself and was trying to be someone who I was not.”

Rashami, in an earlier interview with Pinkvilla, had shared that she was depressed during the full episode. She revealed having a cordial relationship with him and mentioned that whenever they bump into each other or at a party, they are very cordial and don’t have any complaints about it. Rashami had also shared that no one saw them as a pair who made joint decisions; instead, they were seen as someone who was not on the same page.
