Ranbir Kapoor opens up about his hard work
On October 9, 2025, Animal actor, Ranbir Kapoor was invited to Subhash Ghai’s film institute, Whistling Woods, where he spoke at a session titled Tribute to Legendary Filmmakers Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt at the Celebrate Cinema 2025 festival. While having a candid conversation, the actor opened up about his struggles in the film industry despite being the son of Rishi Kapoor. He revealed that even though, he got things easily in life, he had to work very hard to make his own identity. He was quoted as saying:
“I’m a product of nepotism and I got it very easy in my life but I always had to work hard because I realised that I come from a family like this and if I don’t have an individualistic approach and if I don’t make a name for myself, I’ll not succeed in the film industry. You guys celebrate a lot of the successes of my family, but there are a lot of failures also, and as much as you learn from the successes, you also learn from the failures.”
During the same conversation, when he was asked about his experience of growing up in a family of legendary actors, Ranbir Kapoor shared that for him it was just a normal family. While talking about the same, he also admitted that he saw a couple of arguments in his house, but they were mostly related to films. In his words:
“What do I feel about being born in this family, for me it was like any other normal family, I didn’t know any better. There used to be a lot of arguments, but not of the domestic kind. They would debate over a scene or the correct lyrics of a song.”

Ranbir Kapoor was born into one of Bollywood’s most famous film families. His father was legendary actor, Rishi Kapoor, his mother is Neetu Kapoor, who was recently seen in the film, Jugjugg Jeeyo. Ranbir is also the grandson of one of the greatest filmmakers, Raj Kapoor. In his personal life, Ranbir is married to Alia Bhatt. They tied the knot in April 2022, and in November 2022, they welcomed their first child- daughter, Raha.

Coming to his professional life, Ranbir Kapoor made his acting debut with the 2007 film, Saawariya, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. After that, he gave memorable performances in films like Wake Up Sid, Barfi!, Rockstar, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and more. He was last seen in the film, Animal and some of his upcoming films include Love & War, Animal Park and Ramayana: Part 1.
