Luka Doncic may have grown up in Slovenia, but the influence of the pop icon that is Britney Spears knows no bounds.
The Los Angeles Lakers star joined Hot Ones on Thursday (Oct. 9), where host Sean Evans asked Doncic about the rumor that Britney was a staple on his pre-game playlist.
“I have it on good authority that you’ll sometimes warm up to Britney Spears songs before a game,” Evans said. “What’s the Britney Spears song that gets you the most hyped?”
Doncic quickly replied: “‘Oops!… I Did It Again,’ really.” Evans asked him to detail why, but Doncic, who was suffering from the heat of the spicy wings, just repeated the song’s title.
Born in 1999, Luka was only one year old when “Oops!… I Did It Again” arrived in April 2000 as the lead single to Spears’ album of the same name. The Max Martin-produced anthem reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Pop Airplay chart.
Outside of bumping some Britney, Doncic also championed High School Musical and, more specifically, Troy Bolton’s (played by Zac Efron) “Get’cha Head in the Game” as his favorite song from the Disney classic.
Oops!… I Did It Again served as Spears’ sophomore album, which was released in May 2000. The project exploded to a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 with more than 1.3 million units earned in its first week.
As for Doncic, he’s hoping his Britney-led pre-game playlist can push him to another MVP-caliber season.
The Los Angeles Lakers open up their 2025-2026 campaign on Oct. 21 at home against Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. He’ll have a heavier workload to kick off the season, with LeBron James expected to miss the opener due to sciatica, per ESPN.
