Rishab Shetty’s latest offering, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, surpassed the Rs 300-crore (nett – gross minus taxes) mark in India. However, going by the initial trade reports, the film witnessed a dip in collections on Wednesday, which is quite natural for a weekday. It is to be seen if the film will pick up momentum during its second weekend in theatres.

According to tracking website Sacnilk, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ added another Rs 25 crore nett to the domestic box office collection, recording a 27 per cent drop from Day 6 numbers. The seven-day total collection now stands at Rs 316 crore nett in India.

While the Hindi version of the film has crossed Rs 100 crore nett in India, the Kannada version is expected to enter into the Rs 100 crore nett club today. After seven days in theatres, the film earned Rs 102 crore in the Hindi belt, with the Kannada version recording a collection of Rs 98.85 crore nett in India.

Check out the day-wise box office collection in India (nett):

    • Day 1: Rs 61.85 crore
    • Day 2: Rs 45.4 crore
    • Day 3: Rs 55 crore
    • Day 4: Rs 63 crore
    • Day 5: Rs 31.5 crore
    • Day 6: Rs 34.25 crore
    • Day 7: Rs 25 crore
    • Total: Rs 316 crore

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has amassed over Rs 410 crore gross in six days, dethroning the 2022 original in just six days. ‘Kantara’, which released in theatres in 2022, grossed Rs 408 crore in its lifetime.

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is the second highest grossing Kannada film, trailing Yash’s ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, which stands undisputed with mammoth earnings of Rs 1,215 crore worldwide. According to trade experts, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is likely to end its run at Rs 700-800 crore globally.

Written, directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, also features Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles. The film, produced by Hombale Films, was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 125 crore.
