Though it’s hard to identify a clear throughline in terms of the film’s plot, a major factor is that multiple squads of men (one of whom is led by a certain Piers Cumberson-Smyth, played by a young and besmirching Alan Cumming) are tracking down and spying on our Spices, trying to catch them doing something shocking or newsworthy to sell to the papers. At one point, two of these exploitative stalking freaks (it’s true) recruit a paparazzi cameraman who is known for his work taking “the Fergie toe-sucking pic.” But as men bend over backwards to be truly diabolical (it’s what they do best!), one thing that’s undeniable is that THE GIRLS ARE LIVING, KIKI-ING, AND ENJOYING THEIR SUCCESS!
