Angel Reese is officially growing her wings.
The basketball player has confirmed that she will be walking in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Posting a series of photos on Instagram, Reese writes, “Stepping into a dream: From Angel to a Victoria’s Secret ANGEL. I’m finally getting my wings 🪽 I’ll be walking the Victoria’s Secret 2025 runway show for the first time, and it feels like destiny. ✨ Wings on, heels ready…Catch me on the runway💗 @victoriassecret”
The snaps are from a photoshoot she did for the lingerie brand, wearing a black lace bra, matching underwear and — of course — a pair of white feathered angel wings.
In some of the photos, Reese adds her official pink and white striped silk VS robe, another pinch-me moment for the athlete.
With this Victoria’s Secret announcement, she and the brand make history. Reese will be the first professional athlete to walk in the show.
The 23-year-old is currently a professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky, part of the WNBA.
The iconic runway show has famously crowned Angels who they believe to be exemplary of the brand. In a press release, Victoria’s Secret said of the partnership, “Angel’s unparalleled athleticism and influence amongst the sports and fashion communities, the culture, and women all over the world exemplifies the iconic and bold power of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”
Having attended last year’s show as a guest, Reese will be viewing it from a decidedly different angle as a runway model.
“I could not stop smiling!” Reese shared with People Magazine after the announcement. “It’s such a surreal and full-circle moment — just last year I was in the audience manifesting being on that runway, completely inspired and in awe of all the powerful women walking down the runway, and now I get to return as an Angel. This will be an unforgettable night that I’ll forever be grateful for.”
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has been a headlining event since its inception in 1995, though the brand struggled to keep the lingerie-clad runway relevant, without controversy and criticism, ultimately cancelling the show after 2018’s runway spectacular.
With new management, after a six-year hiatus, VS returned in 2024, intending to raise the standard of inclusivity in body image, diversity and age representation in the industry.
“I hope I can inspire women and girls everywhere and remind them that we can dominate in our field but also chase our goals outside of it — and for me, that’s getting to walk down fashion and entertainment’s most iconic runway,” Reese further shared, echoing Victoria’s Secret’s new brand identity.
Tune in on Oct. 15 to watch the New York City runway show live on Prime Video.
