As the leaves change and cool breezes rush in, New York City is ushering in a spooky October.

While typical October activities like haunted hayrides and pumpkin patch visits may feel far off from the hustle and bustle of New York, the city has its own crop of spooky activities to get in the spirit. Whether it be catching a classic Alfred Hitchcock film at the Angelika or entering a world of thousands of hand-carved jack o’lanterns, there’s something for macabre fanatics of all ages.

Here, a look at four activities in New York to get in the spooky spirit ahead of Halloween.

    1. ‘Beetlejuice’ at the Palace Theatre, 1564 Broadway, Manhattan

For just 13 spooky weeks, the hit musical “Beetlejuice” is back on Broadway for its third run since 2019 at the Palace Theatre. Guests will be able to return to the Netherworld to visit their favorite haunts inspired by Tim Burton’s cult classic film.

    2. ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Light Trail at the New York Botanical Gardens, 2900 Southern Boulevard, Bronx
