Oscar Maydon‘s label, Rico o Muerto, has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music (WCM), the company tells Billboard. This marks the label’s first publishing deal since launching in 2024, when it was co-founded by the rising Mexican artist and manager-songwriter Alexis “Chachito” Fierro.

“We founded Rico o Muerto with the vision of empowering our artists, because as artists and songwriters ourselves, we understand their needs,” Fierro said in a statement. “We were looking for a partner who shared that vision, and that’s why today, we proudly place our trust in Warner Chappell. We’re very excited for what’s ahead. Y puro Rico o Muerto!

The record label, which has offices in Mexico (Mexicali, Mexico City and Tijuana) and representatives in Los Angeles, most recently added emerging artist Víctor Mendívil to its growing roster, which also includes Omar Camacho, Regulo Molina, Carlos Manjarrez and Fernando Angulo.

“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Chachito and Oscar Maydon, and it’s clear that beyond being gifted songwriters — and in Oscar’s case, a super talented artist — they have a remarkable instinct for discovering and developing promising talent,” added Gustavo Menéndez, president of U.S. Latin & Latin America, WCM. “I couldn’t be happier to be working with them!”

“Rico o Muerto has quickly become one of the most exciting forces in música Mexicana,” Carlos Ruiz, managing director of WCM Mexico, and Delia Orjuela, head of creative, música mexicana at WCM, said in a joint statement. “Their deep roots in the genre and forward-thinking vision make them ideal partners as we expand Warner Chappell’s presence within this new wave of artists. We’re proud to help bring their music to an even bigger global stage.”

The global publishing deal comes just a few months after Maydon’s third studio album, Rico o Muerto, Vol. 1, debuted at No. 6 on the Top Latin Albums chart and No. 3 on the Top Regional Mexican Albums chart. The música mexicana hitmaker is set to speak at Billboard Latin Music Week 2025, which will take place Oct. 20-24 in Miami. Maydon will be part of The Future of Regional Mexican Music panel on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
