Bon Iver’s Sable, Fable track “Day One” now has a music video. Directed by Jos Diaz Contreras, the short is set in a dystopian future where Bon Iver has retired and must be replaced by an imitator. Among the many hopefuls are Cristin Milioti, St. Vincent, Jacob Elordi in a fake beard, and the song’s performers: featured artists Dijon and Flock of Dimes’ Jenn Wasner, plus Justin Vernon himself. Watch the audition tapes below.
Milioti and Vernon go some way back: In 2021, she covered his 22, A Million song “715 Creeks,” and, more recently, she appeared in character as the mother of his child in a behind-the-scenes book that accompanied Sable, Fable. The new video follows another high-concept short for the LP, in which Vernon played a dual limo driver and divorce attorney soundtracked by the album’s “From.”
