The good news is that Variety and Netflix have already announced that the fourth season of Monster will revolve around another infamous figure from history: Lizzie Borden.
Who is Lizze Borden, the subject of Monster 4?
Monster has become one of Netflix’s most successful anthology series. The first season of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story starred Evan Peters as the notorious serial killer. It became one of Netflix’s most-watched series, surpassing 1 billion view hours within its first 60 days. The second season was based on Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, focusing on the shocking 1989 murders committed by the Menendez brothers, receiving 11 Emmy nominations. Things became darker in Season 3 with Monster: The Ed Gein Story about the grave robber whose crimes inspired horror classics like Psycho and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Now, the upcoming fourth installment will take audiences back more than a century to one of America’s earliest and most sensational murder cases. As per Variety, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story will be based on Lizzie Borden, a woman tried and acquitted in 1892. She had reportedly committed brutal axe murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts. Although she was found not guilty, Borden was ostracized by her community and remained an enduring figure in American folklore. According to Tudum by Netflix, it will be the first time a female ‘Monster’ is in the spotlight. As the famous saying goes:

Who will be in the cast of Monster Season 4?
According to Deadline, Ella Beatty is set to play Lizzie Borden in the new season. The news comes after her breakout role in Murphy’s Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. The cast also includes Rebecca Hall as Lizzie’s stepmother, ‘Abby Borden’, and Vicky Krieps as ‘Bridget Sullivan’, the Bordens’ maid and rumored confidante. Meanwhile, some other cast members will include Billie Lourd and Emma Borden.

When will Monster 4 release?
According to Tudum, the production for Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is set to begin this fall. Max Winkler, who previously directed episodes of Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Although Netflix has not announced an official release date, all previous Monster installments have typically been released around September or October, coinciding with the spooky season of Halloween. Therefore, there are high chances that Monster 4 could be released around the same time.
If the show’s past success is any indication, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is already set to deliver another haunting deep dive into one of history’s most talked-about crimes.
