Bobby Deol, the son of legendary actors, Dharmendra and Hema Malini, has completed three decades in the Indian film industry. Since his debut with the film, Barsaat, he has proved his versatility in several films. Currently, he is hogging the success of The Ba***ds of Bollywood by Aryan Khan. As Bobby Deol is celebrating the milestone, he opened about his evolving relationship with his co-stars, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta.
Bobby Doel recalls having arguments with co-stars before becoming friends
Recently, Bobby Deol sat down for a candid conversation with SCREEN, in which he recalled early days from his career. While talking about Preity and Rani, the Animal actor shared that he has a close and a strong bond with both of them, which only strengthened after he argued with them. He shared that he calls Preity Zinta as ‘Pritam Singh’ and because of the same, in 2024, she had to clarify it on Instagram as well. Bobby Deol was quoted as saying:
“It was great working with all of them. I’ve gotten along with whoever I’ve worked with. I’m very close to Preity and Rani. I always call Preity Pritam Singh. In fact, she had to clarify on Instagram last year: ‘My real name is not Pritam Singh!’ She’d call me Bobby D in a particular way.”
Bobby Deol continued to add that he and Preity started off with an argument, which broke the ice between them. Slowly and gradually they became friends after. He shared that, similar to Preity, he and Rani Mukerji also had an argument while shooting for the film, Bichhoo and later became good friends. In his words:
“We began on set by having an argument over something. I think that broke the ice, and we became good friends. While working on Bichhoo, Rani and I also had an argument, and then we became good friends.”
Bobby Deol calls Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji his only two friends
In the same interview with SCREEN, Bobby Deol revealed that Rani and Preity are his only two friends from the film industry, who have always been there for the actor. When he was asked if the argument was his strategy to break his ice, Bobby denied and mentioned that it just happened. He had shared:
“In my career, they are two people whom I can call friends because they’re always there for me. Whenever we meet, it doesn’t feel like we haven’t met for a long time. No, it wasn’t a strategy. I’m just being honest about how we became good friends. Sometimes, not getting along with someone in the beginning and then getting along later makes you closer, I think.”
