Amitabh Bachchan on Homemakers and Their Importance

Reflecting on his experience hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Season 17, Amitabh spoke about how many women in the audience describe themselves as “homemakers” in a low voice when asked about their occupation. “Sometimes on KBC, when I ask a woman in the audience what she does, she replies in a hushed tone, ‘I’m a homemaker’,” he wrote in Hindi, adding a mildly unamused emoji.

The actor encouraged women to speak about their role as homemakers with pride. “Why say it in a subdued voice? No! Never say it quietly. Say it with pride — that you are a homemaker!” he wrote, including light-hearted emojis to support his message. He further emphasized that managing a household is not an easy task. “Taking care of the home, looking after your husband and children, cooking for the family, handling all responsibilities — it’s no small job,” he noted.

    How the Pandemic Shifted Perspectives

Amitabh went on to reflect on the COVID-19 pandemic, suggesting that many men only truly began to understand the amount of work involved in running a household during the lockdowns. “During the Covid period, many men realised how much their wives handle at home — because they had to take on those tasks themselves,” he explained.

Amitabh Celebrates India’s Win in Women’s Cricket

Bachchan also used his platform to congratulate the Indian women’s cricket team on their recent victory against Pakistan. Sharing a photo that read “India jeet gaya” (India won), he wrote, “India’s daughters are the country’s greatest wealth.” He also posted the image on X (formerly Twitter), adding, “Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.”

India defeated Pakistan by 88 runs in the match. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Pakistan restricted India to 247 in 50 overs. However, the Indian team bowled out Pakistan for just 159 runs in 43 overs.

    Amitabh’s Current Projects

Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 premiered on August 11 and currently airs Monday to Friday at 9 PM on Sony Entertainment Television. It is also available for streaming on SonyLIV.

On the film front, Amitabh was last seen in Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. The Tamil-language action drama marked his debut in Tamil cinema and featured a star-studded cast, including Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier. The film was released in 2024.
