Reality television has always been a playground for drama, emotions, and controversy. The genre thrives on unfiltered moments and personal revelations that blur the line between entertainment and real life. From friendships turning sour to contestants revealing secrets on national television, every episode becomes a talking point for fans and critics alike. The latest storm brewing in the world of Indian reality TV comes from the Ashneer Grover-hosted show Rise and Fall, where actress Aahana Kumra and dancer-influencer Dhanashree Verma have found themselves in the centre of a heated controversy.
Aahana Kumra’s exit from Rise and Fall sparks controversy
Aahana Kumra, who was recently evicted from Rise and Fall, made headlines for her alleged comments against co-contestant, Dhanashree Verma. During her time on the show, Aahana had accused Dhanashree of frequently bringing up her divorce from cricketer, Yuzvendra Chahal and “playing the victim card.” She also reportedly questioned Dhanashree’s dynamic with the male contestants inside the house. After her eviction, Aahana spoke to Bollywood Bubble, setting the record straight and offering her side of the story.
Aahana Kumra says Dhanashree Verma chose to speak about her personal life
Addressing the controversy, Aahana emphasised that every contestant is responsible for what they choose to share on national television, adding that Dhanashree had consciously decided to discuss her personal journey and there are repercussions to that. Aahana could be quoted as saying:
“I think Dhanashree is still talking about her personal life on the show. Honestly, we didn’t speak for more than a week, and I didn’t know her before. When you appear on a reality show, a lot of things about your past will surface. How you present it to the world is up to you.”
Aahana Kumra on maintaining dignity and privacy
Aahana also revealed that she had set clear boundaries for herself before joining Rise and Fall. Describing herself as a private person, Aahana mentioned that very few people, apart from her family, know about her personal life. For her, the show was meant to be a platform for competition, not confession. She said:
“When I signed up for the show, I was very clear about two things — I wanted to play it in a dignified manner and I didn’t want to discuss my personal life on the show at all,”

Aahana Kumra also clarified the ‘spicy’ comment towards Dhanashree Verma
Addressing another rumour, Aahana denied ever calling Dhanashree ‘spicy.’ She clarified that if she had said anything inappropriate, it would have been caught on camera. She noted that if she had said anything untoward about Dhanashree, it would have been on camera. The makers leave no room for hiding such things.
Dhanashree Verma’s past marriage has gained alot of attention
Dhanashree Verma, a well-known dancer and content creator, was previously married to Indian cricketer, Yuzvendra Chahal. The couple divorced earlier this year, and Dhanashree’s personal life has since been a frequent topic of public discussion. On Rise and Fall, she has been open about her emotional journey post-divorce, something Aahana believes is her narrative, and it does not come without consequences.
