Is it a top? A necklace? A belt? Why not all three?
Charlize Theron made a front-row appearance at Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2026 runway presentation in Paris on Friday, wearing a barely-there top made of strings of clear gemstones and silver studs.
The Oscar winner, 50, covered up in a white blazer and matching slouchy trousers, but otherwise, the look wasn’t exactly office-appropriate.
The chains of gems cascaded down the South African star’s torso, which was bare except for a simple black bra. She finished the look with matching crystal drop earrings, shield sunglasses, and sculptural thong sandals.
The barely-there top is the work of Sarah Burton, who debuted as Givenchy’s creative director with the Fall 2025 collection in March. Burton, who previously spent years at Alexander McQueen, has been making waves with her deconstructed approach to luxury — and A-listers are taking note.
Theron’s gemstone moment comes just weeks after Jenna Ortega caused a stir at the 2025 Emmys in a similar top from the same Givenchy collection.
The “Wednesday” star wore a glittering piece featuring oversized gemstones and pearls in burgundy, amber, and gunmetal, leaving her skin bare underneath the jewels.
Burton’s design, dubbed the “Broken Chandelier Top,” isn’t for the reserved — nor for the weak-shouldered.
Ortega’s stylist Enrique Melendez revealed on the “Plus One” podcast that the actress’s Emmys top clocked in at a hefty 20 to 30 pounds and “was digging into her poor collar bone.”
“She was like, ‘Enrique, I love you. But can we please do something more practical next time?’” Melendez shared, praising Ortega for being “married to the moment.”
It’s unclear whether Theron’s version carries the same heft, though the actress has never been one to shy away from a fashion challenge.
The “Mad Max” star has been having quite the Givenchy moment lately. In June, she wore a black fishnet bodysuit from Burton’s debut collection to “The Old Guard 2” premiere in Los Angeles, pairing the sheer piece — which featured the words “Givenchy, Paris 1952” across the front — with black high-waisted briefs and a blazer.
She also stepped out in a white asymmetric shirt dress from the same collection at Netflix’s Upfront in May, though stylist Leslie Fremar kept things relatively buttoned-up for that appearance.
