Amazon has rolled out a new feature for its Prime members called “Add to Delivery”, allowing customers to add items to an order even after it has been completed, provided it hasn’t shipped yet. This initiative is part of the e-commerce giant’s efforts to make shopping more flexible and convenient for its users.

Traditionally, once an order was placed on Amazon, customers would have to create a new order to purchase additional items. With Add to Delivery, this process becomes far simpler. Eligible items can now be included in an already scheduled delivery without any additional steps, saving time and effort for shoppers who often forget to include essential products in their orders.

The feature is available exclusively for the US users through the Amazon app or on Amazon.com accessed via mobile devices. Currently, it is limited to specific product categories, including electronics, clothing, books, and groceries. Products eligible for this option are marked with a blue “Add to Delivery” button on their detail page, located just below the standard yellow “Add to Cart” button. Tapping the button instantly adds the item to the upcoming delivery. In case of accidental selection, users can immediately remove the item using the undo option, providing a quick way to correct mistakes.

Amazon has been testing Add to Delivery with a select group of Prime members for some time, but the company has now begun a broader rollout. According to Amazon, the feature is designed to align with how people actually shop. The company says that the idea is to allow customers to respond to immediate shopping needs without having to wait until their next order or create a separate purchase.

The new feature can be used for deliveries scheduled for later in the same day or the next day, depending on availability. Importantly, adding items to a scheduled delivery does not incur any additional shipping charges. However, access to Add to Delivery requires an active Amazon Prime membership, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year in the US.

For frequent online shoppers, Add to Delivery addresses a common frustration, forgetting to include an item in an order and having to go through the entire checkout process again. With this feature, shoppers can quickly include forgotten products in their upcoming deliveries, ensuring they receive everything they need in a single shipment. It is currently unknown when the same feature will also be rolled out for other countries like India, where people will appreciate having this option.
