Personally Kevin Atwater is one of my favourite characters in the One Chicago universe, so this podcast was a treat for me. I absolutely loved the amount of BTS knowledge we found out during this episode.
What is becoming abundantly clear over the course of these episodes is how much of an influence Brian Luce has on the One Chicago world. In this episode we learn of how his previous experience as police and stories from that time helped LaRoyce understand that he could be a bridge between communities by being a cop on the show.
LaRoyce’s story about being put in the back of a cop car genuinely upset me, you could tell it had such an impact on him and his lifestyle. I for one am very glad that LaRoyce has been playing Atwater and showcasing the issues in policing and community for 13 years, his passion for the storyline’s that Kevin has gone through is unmatched.
I think the fact that so much of LaRoyce is in Atwater is why he is such a beloved character, Kevin’s heart and soul clearly bleeds from LaRoyce’s own personality and charm. I’ve always been a sucker for the off-screen friendships, and I think it’s obvious that the PD cast are a family. Especially with the story of Patrick and Jesse driving LaRoyce to see his son once he was born, their bond is truly unbreakable.
We were able to have a sneak peek of BTS with Arienne Mandi and her new character Eva Imani. We got introduced to her in last night’s episode of Chicago PD. 16 straight days of work gave us some of my favourite season from episode 1 of Season 13.
Can’t wait to see what the next episode brings!
