ROSÉ has her sights set high when it comes to her career in music, telling The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview that she dreams about winning a Grammy someday.
In a piece published Wednesday (Oct. 1), the BLACKPINK singer shared her reaction to the Grammy buzz surrounding her smash hit “APT.” with Bruno Mars. “I’m getting chills right now,” she told the publication.
“It’s still a dream for me,” ROSÉ added of taking home a golden gramophone. “It’s still a fantasy — a moment that proves to myself so many things.”
As it happens, the success of “APT.” — which topped the Billboard Global 200 for 12 weeks — makes it a likely contender for Grammy recognition in the main song categories. If ROSÉ and Mars do get nominated for either record or song of the year in 2026, the former will become the first K-pop artist to ever receive a nod in a Big Four category.
If there’s anyone who thinks she can do it, it’s ROSÉ’s duet partner. “Big Bad Rosie was destined to do great things no matter what,” Mars told THR. “I’m so proud of her, and thankful that I got to be a part of the conversation that led to ‘APT.’ and the birth of a brand new K-pop juggernaut named Bruno Mars.”
Released in October 2024, “APT.” served as the lead single for ROSÉ’s debut solo album, Rosie. After the full-length dropped in December, the album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
The song and LP were released during a yearlong break for BLACKPINK, during which ROSÉ and bandmates JISOO, LISA and JENNIE took time apart to focus on solo projects. They have since reunited for a global world tour that will pick back up Oct. 18 in Taiwan after a short break.
When talking about making solo music, ROSÉ told THR, “I don’t know if I knew exactly what I wanted, but I knew I wanted a world that was unapologetically and purely me.”
“At the time I was a 27-year-old girl, and I wanted it to be purely, disgustingly me — whatever I come with,” she added. “There were days where I was just going through my own problems of being who I am and living in this world with social media, [of] wanting to be accepted and [that] feeling of needing to be loved and appreciated by everyone.”
