Grey’s Anatomy returns in just over one week, and now ABC has officially revealed the trailer that had everyone buzzing about whether Season 22’s premiere will actually claim the life of a fan favorite. On top of that, the network has also revealed the key art for the new season, and it features a telling trio at the top; plus, the titles and descriptions for the first two episodes of Season 22 have now been shared.
So what is there to know about Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 so far? Here’s a look at all of the details we have so far.
When will Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 premiere?
Grey’s Anatomy will return for its next season starting Thursday, October 9.
It will be part of the network’s Thursday night lineup, following 9-1-1 at 8/7c and new spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville at 9/8c. Grey’s Anatomy will thus keep its current timeslot of 10/9c.
Who will star in Grey’s Anatomy Season 22?
Even though she’s not around as much as she used to be, fans can still count on series lead and namesake Meredith Grey to continue being part of the picture — and lending her vocals to the narration — in Season 22, as actress Ellen Pompeo recently promised, “I’ll always pop in and out.”
As for who else will return, with Grey’s, there’s always a chance the leads could disappear from the show. As of Season 21, just two other originals remain — Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey and James Pickens Jr. as Richard Webber.
The good news for fans is those three seem to be safe this season, judging by the Season 22 key art that was just revealed featuring Meredith, Richard, and Miranda all together.

Is there a trailer for Grey’s Anatomy Season 22?
Yes! Embedded above, the trailer shows the aftermath of the Season 21 finale explosion, with Meredith and Ben both struggling to get back inside to help with the wreckage as Teddy and Catherine assess the damage. In the footage, we also see at least one body, as a scrub nurse is shown lying among the wrecked surgical unit. We still don’t know which, if any, of our main series heroes will be a casualty.
What else is there to know about Grey’s Anatomy Season 22?
The biggest question surrounding the return of Season 22 is whether anyone died in the explosive Season 21 finale, and if so, who? Link seemed like the likeliest victim, but others in the potential blast zone included Miranda, Monica, Millen, and potentially Lucas.
