Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has been hospitalised after feeling unwell, a source said.
According to sources, the hospitalisation is a precautionary measure considering Kharge’s age.
According to a report by news agency PTI, the 83-yearl-old veteran leader is admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru after developing a fever and experiencing leg pain.
He was admitted on Tuesday for a complete medical check-up. “He is fine, nothing to worry. Doctors are monitoring,” a Congress leader told PTI.
His condition is not critical and is being closely observed by doctors.
A formal statement from Kharge’s office and a medical bulletin from the hospital are expected soon.
A year ago, Kharge had experienced dizziness while addressing a rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua. hortly after the incident, he said that he would not die anytime soon, at least not before defeating Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “…I’m not going to die so soon. I will stay alive until we remove Modi. I will listen to you and fight for you,” he said.
