Starting Oct. 9, Billboard China is partnering with QQ Music and JOOX platforms under Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) to launch the “Star Power” monthly selection.
This initiative will merge Billboard China‘s global clout with Tencent Music’s superior music content in China. It aims to spotlight top Chinese music globally, boosting its worldwide presence and influence through a professionalized and systematic monthly selection process.
The selection features three key phases: nomination, recommendation and publication. At the beginning of each month, QQ Music and JOOX will showcase 100 of the latest hit Chinese tracks. Fans can dive into the selection process via an open voting channel, cheering for their favorites. The final picks, blending user preferences from both platforms and the insights of Billboard‘s expert panel, will be unveiled in the month’s final stretch. These top tracks will bask in extensive online-offline promotion, earn Billboard‘s official seal, and grab global attention on Billboard‘s site and via its vast social media network.
Furthermore, the selection will team up with the Tencent Music Nonprofit Program. It will turn the Power Index from the selection process into fuel for good. This will support the Music Garden Space initiative in Beichuan, Sichuan, offering kids in remote and ethnic minority regions a richer palette of music and art classes, thus amplifying music’s positive social impact.
