When it comes to transitional fashion, there are two types of dressers—and Amal Clooney is making a bold statement about one of them.
First, there’s the wistful sun-chasers who cling to their summer brights long after September, or the goth-leaning crowd who retreat into head-to-toe black at the first cold snap. Once the flip-flops and micro shorts are retired, the siren call of the fall wardrobe becomes hard to resist: oversized coats, even bigger scarves, and the Olsen twins school of dressing is our bread and butter.
Amal, however, refuses to be swallowed by monochrome malaise. In recent months, she’s been (not so quietly) rebelling against stealth wealth, making the case that sometimes more really is more. Her latest argument comes by the way of a very floral bandeau mini by Oscar de la Renta, worn for the premiere of Jay Kelly—starring her husband George—in New York.
