A pivotal sneaker in the lore of Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny will hit stores before the end of the year for the first time since 2013.
The Air Jordan 8 Bugs Bunny is set to release in December, close to form from its original run in 1993. It’s one of the two Air Jordan sneakers most closely associated with the “Looney Tunes” character, the other being the Air Jordan 7 Hare that Bugs wore in the famous 1992 Super Bowl commercial.
Much like its predecessor, the Bugs Bunny AJ8 is clad predominantly in white leather and gray suede. Accents then arrive in black and red, including the immensely ’90s heel stabilizer, while a lone dash of blue arrives through the Jumpman within the chenille tongue patch.
With the release just months away, the first look at the sneaker’s latest retro comes via in-hand images from the New York City resale store That’s OD SoHo.
Bugs Bunny appeared in commercials for both the Air Jordan 7 and Air Jordan 8 wearing the colorways named for him, and Jordan himself favored the Air Jordan 8 Bugs Bunny for the 1992-93 NBA regular season. Many refer to the crossing straps as “bunny ears,” adding yet another connection to the “rascally rabbit.”
After its original release in 1993, the Air Jordan 8 Bugs Bunny would be rereleased again in 2003 and 2013. It’s also been ten years since the Air Jordan 7 Hare hit stores, although the colorway was replicated on the Air Jordan 6 for the first time in 2016.
The Air Jordan 8 Bugs Bunny is scheduled to release Dec. 20 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $210.
