Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s relationship was one of the most talked about romances during the 2000s. When the two parted ways, it turned into a highly publicised feud involving Vivek Oberoi, who was one of the brightest young actors at that time. After almost two decades later, the Saathiya actor opened up about his alleged romance and break up with the Jazbaa actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Vivek Oberoi opens up on the emotional turmoil of the controversy
Recently, Bollywood actor, Vivek Oberoi sat down for a candid conversation with Prakhar Gupta, in which he opened up about the entire controversy involving him, Salman and Aishwarya. He explained the emotional turmoil and the lessons he learnt from that incident. He shared that he does not want to live in fear anymore as he has experienced it before. He was quoted as saying:
“I have been a very sensitive and emotional person in life. I don’t want to live in the fear of heartbreak because I have lived that already. I have experienced it, it’s a very scary, lonely and insular life. You have to be open again, to love again, and feel again.”
He continued to add that he sees this as a test of resilience from God he had to go through. He mentioned that going through one of the biggest controversies of the decade, has just made him stronger. In his words:
“Ajeeb baat yeh hai ki sar par jab aafat aati hai, sar pe pange hote hai, tab woh bade lagte hai… Similarly, I feel when God sees your problems, he must be thinking, bacche this is a small thing, I’ll make you stronger.”
Vivek Oberoi concluded by mentioning that he now finds the entire issue and controversy immature. He revealed that giving any reaction to that incident feels funny to him, as he has left all the bitterness behind and moved forward in his life. He shared:
“Woh perspective baadmein dikhta hai…Now I find it immature. Having or giving a reaction feels funny now. Ek woh jo darr tha, ya kadvahat thi, bitterness thi, scars the, it becomes a difficult window at that time. Whatever I went through, I have forgotten about it.”

After Aishwarya’s public split from Salman Khan in 2002, she was linked with Vivek Oberoi in the early 2003. This turned into a full-blown controversy when Vivek held a widely reported press conference accusing Salman Khan of threatening him over his alleged link with Aishwarya. This became one of the most talked-about topics of that time. Reportedly, after this incident, Vivek faced a major setback in his career as he received backlash from the industry and no opportunities.
