Karan Johar may have just let slip one of Bollywood’s most exciting announcements. During a candid chat with comedian Zarna Garg, the filmmaker casually revealed that Bhuvan Bam, one of India’s biggest YouTubers, is stepping into Bollywood as the lead in a Dharma Productions film. “He’s been one of the biggest YouTubers and now he’s doing a film for us as the lead actor,” KJo said, confirming what fans had long speculated.

The film in question is titled Kuku Ki Kundali, a romantic comedy directed by Sharan Sharma of Gunjan Saxena and Mr & Mrs Mahi fame. Starring opposite Wamiqa Gabbi, Bhuvan’s big-screen debut marks a historic moment—taking him from digital pioneer to full-fledged Bollywood hero.
For Bhuvan, this is more than just a career move. Speaking to Mi-day, he admitted the surreal mix of excitement and anxiety that comes with such a milestone. “It looks great from the outside that this is happening to a guy from Malviya Nagar, Delhi, who had nothing except a vision that he should entertain people. But the pessimist I am, I get scared when good things happen to me, thinking whether I’d be able to do justice to it.”
Bhuvan hopes his performance resonates with audiences on a personal level. “My aim with this film is that whoever watches it should feel, ‘The guy on the screen is one of our own.’ I always want to give them this feeling that wherever they are from, if they work hard and are dedicated enough, they can achieve anything,” he told in these reports. He also praised Sharma’s vision, calling the process both reassuring and creatively fulfilling.
With Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions backing the film, Sharan Sharma at the helm, and Bhuvan Bam making his highly anticipated Bollywood debut, Kuku Ki Kundali is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about releases in 2025.
