IIT Madras’s Department of Management Studies (DoMS) has invited applications for its Executive MBA (EMBA) programme, designed for mid-career professionals looking to strengthen their leadership and management skills. The last date to apply is October 19, 2025.

The two-year in-person programme will be conducted on alternate weekends, allowing working executives to continue their jobs while pursuing the degree. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 60 per cent marks and have a minimum of three years of work experience.

The selection process will take place on November 8 and 9, 2025 at the IIT Madras campus.

It will include a written aptitude test covering business aptitude, logical reasoning, quantitative ability, and verbal ability, followed by a personal interview. Final results will be announced in December, with classes beginning in January 2026.

The curriculum combines classroom learning with three field-based capstone projects, giving participants the opportunity to apply management theories to real-world challenges.

According to the department, the aim is to provide both functional expertise and a broader understanding of decision-making in today’s fast-changing business environment.

Professor Saji K Mathew, Head of DoMS, said the programme offers three main advantages: access to IIT Madras’ technology-driven approach, flexible weekend classes for professionals, and exposure to global business practices, including an international immersion component.

Last year, participants visited the IESEG School of Management in Paris for a 10-day programme on global leadership and cultural intelligence.

Dr S Srinivasan, Programme Coordinator, added that case study-based teaching, including material from Ivy League and Harvard Business School, gives participants a simulated environment to test decision-making skills.

The interdisciplinary approach, he said, helps executives apply what they learn directly to their organisations.

Current and past students highlight peer learning as another strength of the programme. With participants bringing between three and 15 years of work experience, classroom discussions often mirror real boardroom debates.

With over 18,000 schools and multiple global partnerships, IIT Madras continues to expand its footprint in management education alongside its engineering legacy.
