Atrocities against Hindu and Buddhist minorities in Bangladesh are escalating, with protests met by deadly force. In Khagra, Chhari, communities demonstrating against the alleged rape of a non-Muslim tribal schoolgirl faced brutal repression as the Bangladeshi army reportedly opened fire on them. This followed the local administration’s imposition of Section 144, which bans public gatherings. Protesters defied the order, calling for a district-wide blockade. Since August 2024, reports indicate at least 152 Hindu temples have been desecrated and 157 homes vandalized, alongside cases of sexual abuse against Hindu women. Amid the ongoing demonstrations for justice, fresh outrage has now been reported from Chattogram.
