Ankita Lokhande, who rose to fame with the Indian television show Pavitra Rishta and went on to make her mark in films like Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, is stepping into a new chapter of her career as a producer. The actress has announced that she will co-produce the revival of Chandni Bar under Legend Studios, alongside Sandip Singh and Vicky Jain. The sequel, which comes 25 years after the release of the original cult classic, is set to be her debut venture behind the camera.

Reflecting on her journey, Ankita credits television for shaping her career. “Television has given me everything—my name, my recognition, and my foundation. I’ll always be grateful to Ektaa Kapoor for believing in me when I was just starting out. That one chance changed my life forever,” she said warmly.
While acting remains central to her identity, Ankita believes production allows her to create new opportunities for others. “Acting will always remain my first love, but producing is my way of giving back,” she shared, adding that her passion lies in nurturing new talent. “I strongly believe that this is the right time to speak about something very close to my heart—the importance of giving opportunities to fresh talent. I didn’t have a godfather in the industry. Neither did Vicky, nor Sandip, who is working tirelessly to create his own name. We are all outsiders who deeply love Bollywood and the television industry, and every step we take is driven by passion and determination.”
Ankita also acknowledged the weight of choosing Chandni Bar as her debut production. “Chandni Bar is such an iconic film, and 25 years later, bringing it back as my first production is both an honor and a huge responsibility,” she said. She further explained her vision for the future: “Just like Karan Johar gave Alia (Bhatt), Varun (Dhawan), and Sidharth (Malhotra) their first big films, I too want to create that kind of launchpad for fresh, deserving talent. As a producer, I see it as my duty to bring in new faces, new voices, and raw, genuine talent.”
With her production debut, Ankita Lokhande not only pays tribute to a landmark film but also signals her intent to help shape the industry’s next generation.
