Jake Knapp is speaking out for the first time on the death of his girlfriend, Makena White.
In his statement, the pro golfer shared sweet words about the kind of person his partner was.
“Makena was such a thoughtful person whose selflessness toward others is something I will always appreciate,” Knapp, 31, told People on Friday.
He added that she had “fun, outgoing energy” that “will be missed” by him, family and friends.
Knapp also admitted that he is having a difficult time navigating the unexpected loss of White.
“We shared so many unforgettable memories together and now that she’s no longer with us, it’s a tough reality to comprehend,” the PGA Tour golfer wrote to the outlet.
“It’s an understatement to say how hard all of this is to process for everyone who knew Mak, especially her family and friends, who deserve privacy and respect during this difficult time.”
Page Six has reached out to Knapp for comment but did not immediately hear back.
White’s friend revealed the sad loss via an Instagram post on the late medical sales rep’s account Friday.
“Makena passed away earlier this week,” the pal shared with the “heaviest heart.” “She is already so deeply missed by her Dad, her family, her friends, and of course by [dogs] Nelly and Fergie.”
White’s official cause of death has not yet been revealed. She was only 28 years old.
It appeared that she and Knapp were still going strong this summer.
On Aug. 11, White shared how proud she was of the pro athlete as he finished this year’s golfing season.
“Year 2 of first fairway hugs & watching you live out your dreams,” she captioned a carousel of pictures featuring the couple in what is now her final post.
“Second season in the books — forever grateful to be on this walk with you, here’s to many many many more! I looooove you sweet boy, you make it so dang easy to be proud.”
The couple reportedly began dating in August 2023.
