Producer Ektaa R Kapoor has finally addressed the chatter surrounding her viral video on body image and diets that sparked a wave of speculation online. The Balaji head honcho, who is known for her candid posts, recently shared a video where she openly spoke about weight gain, diets, and self-acceptance. However, the post was widely linked to actor Ram Kapoor after his wife Gautami Kapoor shared a light-hearted video of her own, which many assumed was a response.
Ektaa R Kapoor breaks silence on Ozempic video controversy: “I don’t know where Ram Kapoor came into this”
Clearing the air, Ektaa Kapoor set the record straight in her latest remarks at the India Today Conclave. She explained that the video had been posted in connection with the fourth season of her hit TV series Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and was never intended for anyone else. “This was exactly one week before I launched the Bade Achhe Lagte Hain promo, where the main character tries to fit into a medium. The promo was about body shaming, self-doubt, and self-assurance. Somehow, people took my post and spun it into something completely unrelated,” she said.
Dismissing the links to Ram Kapoor, Ektaa added, “I don’t know where Ram Kapoor came into this. He’s not a woman, not on TV right now, and he’s actually lost a lot of weight. It’s like I’m talking about my hair, and someone says, ‘Oh, you called me bald.’ Why would I do that?”
The original video posted by Ektaa featured her speaking about body weight and possible solutions, with a humorous undertone. In the clip, she asked: “What do I do? I’ve gained a lot of weight. Should I do an anti-inflammatory diet? Mounjaro? Ozempic? All of the above? Zip my mouth? Ya chhod dun? Hum bade hi acche lagte hain (Or shall I leave it? Because I look good just the way I am)!” She captioned it with, “Ozempic ho jaye.”
Soon after, Gautami Kapoor’s video added fuel to the fire. In her post, she mimicked the format, saying: “Should I do an anti-inflammatory diet? Should I take Mounjaro? Should I take Ozempic , or all of the above? Or should I just zip my mouth? But I think mere liye gym hi kaafi hai (For me, the gym is enough),” while captioning it, “Jisse Jo Pasand ho…. Use woh Karne do….. live and let live …… at the end what matters is health, happiness and peace.”
Ektaa’s latest clarification now firmly puts the rumours to rest. Her remarks underline that her post was about broader themes of self-image and acceptance, not aimed at any individual. With the speculation finally addressed, the producer has made it clear that the focus should return to the message of body positivity she intended to convey.
