Boney Kapoor’s marriage to Sridevi broke many hearts, especially his ex-wife, Mona Kapoor and their children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. For the longest time, the kids stayed away from their father, and the rift was clearly visible. However, with Sridevi’s sudden death, Boney’s four children came together as Arjun and Anshula chose to share the pain of Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, who lost their mother. Recently, Boney Kapoor revealed how Arjun Kapoor was Sridevi’s ‘favourite’ before their marriage.
Boney Kapoor revealed Sridevi’s bond with Arjun Kapoor
Recently, in an interview with Chanda Kochhar for her YouTube channel, Boney Kapoor revealed how Sridevi stayed with his family for a while before getting married to him. Back then, Boney had confessed his love for Sridevi and proposed to her. However, the bomb blast in 1993 left him concerned for Sridevi’s safety as she was staying in the hotel.
Boney Kapoor revealed that he invited Sridevi to live with him at his home. He revealed that when Sridevi came to live with his family, she would get along with his elder son, Arjun Kapoor the most. He was her favourite, but Arjun had no idea about what was happening. Boney said:
“When Sridevi came to my house, when this bomb blast had happened, she used to get along very well with Arjun. Arjun was her favourite when she stayed as a guest. He didn’t know what was happening. I remember those days vividly but somehow, things don’t go the way you planned.”
When Arjun Kapoor talked about the relationship with Sridevi before her death
When Arjun Kapoor appeared on Karan Johar’s famous chat show, Koffee With Karan season 4, he was questioned about his family dynamics. The actor stated that their family have a complicated relationship. Talking about Sridevi, he stated that she is his father’s wife and he has to be respectful towards her, and he is happy with her. He was quoted as saying:
“Of course, the dynamics are complicated. We’ll never be normal like they show in the movies. But I am respectful towards her. She is my father’s wife. And he is happy with her so that’s important and we’ll deal with it. You have to deal with it as it comes.”
When Arjun Kapoor got bullied in school and children would question him about his ‘new mom’
Earlier, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Arjun Kapoor recalled he would often get teased in school as his friend used to make fun of him by asking about his ‘new mom’. He stated that it was not easy, and it made him go into a shell. Arjun clarified that he had fought through it. He said:
“To be asked by kids, your best friends in school ‘how does it feel having a new mom?’ it’s not easy. It makes you go into a shell. You become more vulnerable about things. Again this is not to create sympathy or a sad story. This is the reality…I fought through it.”
It is worth mentioning that back in those reports, it was rife that Boney Kapoor was banned from meeting his first family. In fact, it was the main reason that Arjun Kapoor never shared a good relationship with his step-mother, Sridevi. But he stood with his family and step-sisters after Sridevi tragically passed away in Dubai.
