I was bowled over by Godland, Hlynur Pálmason’s meditative drama from 2023, set in remote 19th-century Iceland. His newest feature—a contemporary story, focused on a family fractured by divorce—sounds like a slightly fantastical, Scandinavian The Squid and the Whale, or maybe Daddy Longlegs.
