The actress essays the role of Shah Bano, the Muslim woman who in the late 1970s challenged her husband, Mohammed Ahmad Khan, a well-known advocate from Indore, after being abandoned along with her children. The case became a milestone in India’s legal and social history, sparking a nationwide debate on women’s rights and justice.
Starring opposite Yami is Emraan Hashmi as her husband, with Suparn Varma directing and Vineet Jain producing. The teaser showcased a glimpse of the actress’ chemistry with Hashmi as the duo will be sharing screen space together for the first time.
